Digital Signature Certificate
for NSWS Portal
The NSWS portal requires a Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate for all users — individuals, sole proprietors, companies, partnership firms, LLPs, and NGOs. Signing Digital issues the correct DSC type for your entity — expert-assisted, in minutes.
What is NSWS and Why Does It Require a Digital Signature?
The National Single Window System (NSWS) is the Government of India's unified platform for business approvals — integrating 32 Central Departments and 25 State Governments under a single digital window. It lets businesses apply, track, and receive government permits without visiting multiple portals.
Since NSWS handles legal, financial, and regulatory approvals involving sensitive business data, the platform mandates a Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) for authentication, document signing, and authorized signatory verification.
Without a valid, active Class 3 DSC, you cannot complete the authorized signatory registration, sign applications, or submit documents on the NSWS portal.

Individual DSC vs. Organization DSC for NSWS
The type of DSC you need for NSWS depends entirely on your entity type. Getting this wrong causes application rejection.
Individual Class 3 DSC
DSC issued in your personal name. Suitable for individuals authenticating as themselves on NSWS. If you are applying for approvals as an individual or sole proprietor (not under any company or firm name), this is your DSC.

Important Rules Before Using DSC on NSWS
Read these carefully — they are the most common causes of DSC rejection and failed NSWS applications.
Signing Type: Sign-Only or Sign+Encrypt
A standard Signing-only Class 3 DSC is sufficient for NSWS. A Sign + Encryption combination is also accepted. Both types are available from Signing Digital. View options at signing.digital/pricelist/.
One DSC = One PAN Only
One DSC is strictly mapped to one PAN. You cannot register two different DSC tokens for the same user profile. You also cannot use one DSC for multiple different PAN accounts. Each authorized signatory must have their own DSC linked to their own PAN.
Organization Name Must Match Exactly
For Organization DSC: the organization name on your DSC must exactly match your NSWS profile and official business registration documents. Even minor spelling differences, initials, or punctuation mismatches will cause application rejection on NSWS. Contact us to verify before applying.
emBridge Software Must Be Installed & Running
The emBridge software from eMudhra must be downloaded, installed, and actively running when you add your DSC on NSWS. Token drivers must also be installed — download from signing.digital/downloads/.
emBridge — The Essential Connecting Software
emBridge is eMudhra's official DSC signing utility — it acts as the bridge between your physical USB crypto token and the NSWS portal. Without it running on your computer, NSWS cannot detect your DSC.
